Melbourne Dental Clinic is a general practice, which means most of what you need is done here by Dr. Johl Melbourne rather than referred across the city. Cleanings and check-ups, fillings, root canals, crowns, implants, dentures, braces and Invisalign, whitening and veneers — all under one roof at Finch and Jane.
If you're not sure which of these you need, book a check-up and we'll tell you. There is no charge for asking what something involves or what it costs.
Everyday care
- Cleanings and check-ups — scaling, polishing and X-rays, usually every six months.
- Children's dentistry — first visits, sealants and fluoride, at a pace kids can handle.
- Dental sealants — a thin coating on back teeth that keeps cavities out of the grooves.
- Night and sports guards — custom-fitted for grinding, clenching and contact sports.
Repair and restoration
- Root canals — clearing infection and saving a tooth that would otherwise come out.
- Crowns and bridges — porcelain caps for cracked, worn or heavily filled teeth.
- Wisdom teeth — assessment, removal and aftercare when they crowd or impact.
- Dental implants — a permanent replacement for a missing tooth, root and all.
- Bone grafting — rebuilding jaw bone so an implant has something solid to anchor to.
- Dentures — full, partial and implant-supported, fitted and adjusted here.
Cosmetic and orthodontic
- Cosmetic dentistry — the overview, if you're weighing up options.
- Teeth whitening — in-office treatment and take-home trays.
- Veneers and bonding — for chips, gaps and stains that whitening won't shift.
- Invisalign® — clear removable aligners for adults and teens.
- Braces — traditional and clear brackets, assessed in-house.
In pain right now?
Call 416.736.9800 and say it's urgent. We keep room in the day for emergencies — a broken tooth, a lost filling, swelling, or a toothache that's keeping you awake. Don't wait for a regular appointment slot.
What it costs
Before any treatment starts you'll get the fee and what your plan covers, in writing if you want it. Two things usually pay for most of it:
- The Canadian Dental Care Plan — if your family income is under $90,000, this covers a large share of basic care. We check whether you qualify, complete the application with you, and bill the plan directly.
- Insurance through work — Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Blue Cross, Desjardins and Empire Life are all accepted, and we submit the claim so you only pay the balance.
To get started, request an appointment or call the clinic. New patients are welcome.
