Melbourne Dental Clinic is a family practice at Finch and Jane in North York, run by Dr. Johl Melbourne. It's a small clinic on purpose — the same faces greet you at reception, and the dentist who starts your treatment is the one who finishes it.
How we work
Most people who walk in here have put off coming. Either something hurts and they've been hoping it would settle, or they're not sure what it's going to cost. So the first visit is mostly looking and explaining: what's going on, what the options are, what each one involves, and what your plan pays toward it. Nothing gets started until you've agreed to it.
That extends to money. We'll tell you the fee before treatment, not after, and if the Canadian Dental Care Plan or your work insurance covers part of it, we'll work that out with you first. Asking costs nothing.
What we handle here
As a general practice we cover a wider range than most — cleanings and fillings, but also implants, root canals, crowns, dentures, Invisalign and braces. Work that often means being sent to a specialist elsewhere in the city is usually done in this office, by someone you've already met. The full list is on our services page.
Nervous patients and first-time kids
Dental anxiety is common and we don't treat it as unusual. Tell us at the front desk and we'll go slower, explain each step before it happens, and stop whenever you need a break. The same goes for children — a first visit can be nothing more than sitting in the chair, counting teeth and going home.
The neighbourhood
We've looked after families around Jane and Finch, Downsview, Glenfield, Willowdale and York University for years, and a good share of our patients came because someone they know sent them. The clinic is at 2100 Finch Ave W, Suite 204, with free parking on site and a short walk from Finch West station.
Come and see
New patients are welcome, and you don't need a referral. Request an appointment or call 416.736.9800 — and if you'd rather just ask a question first, that's fine too.
